| A little about me... | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Merry Meet! My name is Luna Morgan. I am a Solitary Eclectic Wiccan Witch. I have been for over five and a half years. I enjoy being a Solitary. It gives me great freedom to have a personal relationship with the Goddess and God. Being Eclectic allows me to take from various traditions, beliefs, and ideas, weaving together a form of Wicca which is uniquely my own and that truely speaks to my heart and soul. Though I am Eclectic, my Wicca has strong Celtic and Arthurian influences. I am 31 years old, female. I love to read. If I have money, I buy books. :) I also love music, especially Celtic and anything by Sting. I am a Major Sting fan. I adore that man. :) | |||||||||||||||||||
| Let me tell you a little about the Wiccan Faith... | ||||||||||||||||||||

Wicca is a nature based religion, which honors the divine as Goddess and God, celebrates the changing seasons, recognizes the sacredness of nature, and the divine within us all. Wiccans do not worship the devil. We do not believe in the existance of the devil. We do acknowledge that there is evil in the world, but we do not see one all evil being. Wicca does honor a Horned God, often called Cernunnos, Herne, Pan, or simply the Horned God, among other names. There is nothing evil about Him. He is a God of music, joy, laughter, and vitality. The Lord of Animals, Protector of forests, mountain tops, of all things wild and free. Wicca does honor the Goddess, who we see in a triple form of Maiden, Mother, and Crone. The Maiden is youth and innocence, new beginnings; Spring. Her color is white. The Mother is fertility, unconditional love, fullfullment of goals, giver of life. Her color is red. The Crone is wisdom and transformation, the knowledge that comes with age. Her color is black.

Wicca has no "one book" like the bible or the koran, no long list of laws to be followed. There is one basic tenet of Wicca; the Wiccan Rede, which states: And it harm none, do as you will. Many Wiccans also believe in the Three Fold Law, which states: Whatever you send out will return upon you three times as strong. Magic is taking the energy that is around and within us all and focusing it towards a specific goal. It is neither good nor bad, black or white, magic is neutral. Your intent is the thing that is good or bad, not the magic itself. We do at times practice magic and cast spells; but only for good, to make life better and to heal; ourselves, the world and others (with their permission). Wiccans do not cast love spells aimed at a specific person, that would be manipulation and goes against the Rede. We also do not curse people or do revenge spells. Spellwork is only a small part of Wicca and some Wiccans do not cast spells at all. Many Wiccans/Witches/Pagans wear a pentacle around their necks as a symbol of their faith; as a Christian wears a cross or a Jewish person a star of David. A pentacle is a five pointed star within a circle. It symbolizes the elements of Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit, (which makes up all life) within the circle of the divine. There is nothing evil about it. Some Satanists wear the pentacle upside down, as they do with the cross. Most Wiccans wear their pentacles with the point up. Originally the upside down pentacle was a symbol of the Horned God. It was perverted by some Satanists as was the cross. Some covens still wear the pentacle upside down, with it's original meaning intact, usually for second degree members. Wiccans celebrate eight holidays or Sabbats during the Wheel of the Year. Wiccans often refer to the passing of time as the turning of the Wheel. We see things as being cyclic, a circle. The Sabbats are Yule,which is the Winter Solstice. The birth of the Sun God is celebrated. He is born of the Goddess on this day. He slowly spreads His warmth and light over the land. From now on the light lasts a little longer each day and our hearts fill with the knowledge that after a long winter, spring will indeed come. Imbolc, which is February 2nd. The return of the Goddess as Maiden is celebrated. She is just beginning to wake from Her long winter sleep. On this day many honor the Celtic Goddess Brighid. Ostara, which is the Spring Equinox. Spring is celebrated. The Goddess is in Her full Maidenhood. Life beginns anew, flowers bloom, birds sing. Beltain, which is May 1st. The sacred marriage of the Goddess and God is celebrated. The flourishing of love, passion and togetherness, just being alive. Midsummer, which is the Summer Solstice. The Sun God is at the height of His power. Flowers and plants are in full bloom, the days are long and hot, yet we know that from this moment on the Sun starts to wane. It sets a little earlier each day. Lughnasadh, which is August 1st. The first or grain harvest is celebrated. The sacrifice of the God as the grain that is harvested to nurish and sustain us through another turning of the Wheel. He lays down His life for us, the ultimate sacrifice. Mabon, which is the Authmn Equinox. The coming of Autumn is celebrated. The Sun's power diminishes more noticeably now. The flowers start to fade. It is the time of the second harvest when the God give up the very last of His essence. This is also our Thanksgiving, a time to thank the Lord and Lady for Their many gifts and blessings. and Samhain, which is October 31 st. The beginning of winter is celebrated and for for a number of Wiccans the New Year as well. It is the time when the veil between the worlds is the thinest. It is a time for communicating with those who have passed on, reflecting on our lives, setting goals, and planing for the future. Many celebrate the Sabbats on the Eve (the night before). Wiccans also do rituals in honor of the the Moon, which are called Esbats. We honor the Moon as a symbol of the Goddess. It's three phases of New, Full, and Dark representing the three aspects of the Goddess; Maiden, Mother, and Crone. The Goddess and God have many names, many personalities or aspects. Many Wiccans believe that All Goddesses are one Goddess, all Gods, one God. There are many traditions of Wicca: Celtic, Saxon, Norse, Egyptian, Arthurian, Avalonian, Greek, Roman, to name just a few. There is also Eclectic Wicca, which is a blending of different traditions to form a new one. And Dianic which only or primarily honors the Goddess. Wiccans do rituals, celebrate the Sabbats, and cast spells either as part of a coven or as a solitary. Wiccans do not try to convert people. We do not believe in "one true way". We believe that truth and faith are very personal and that there are many paths to the divine. Wicca being one of them and as valid as any other. Each faith is true for those who believe in it and follow it's ways.
